Lead paint laws in Maryland are governed by the state. Maryland law requires that each rental unit be visually inspected at each tenant turnover so as to assure safety from lead-based paint hazards. Each unit must be registered with Maryland and a fee is applied. These laws are enforced by the Maryland Dept. of the Environment.
